Inverter Cold Storage Units Are Super Energy-Saving! Intelligent Power Adjustment Cuts Monthly Electricity Bills by Half
Mr. Zhang, who runs a cold chain warehouse, used to be troubled by the monthly electricity bill of his traditional fixed-frequency cold storage unit: no matter how many goods were in the warehouse or what the external temperature was, the unit operated at full power. Even when idle late at night, the power consumption didn’t decrease, and the monthly electricity bill reached 12,000 yuan in summer. Later, he switched to an inverter cold storage unit. After 3 months of operation, Mr. Zhang was pleasantly surprised to find that the electricity bill dropped directly to 6,000 yuan, saving the price difference of the new unit in half a year.
The core energy-saving advantage of inverter cold storage units lies in the intelligent power adjustment technology. Equipped with an inverter compressor, it can dynamically adjust the operating power according to the internal temperature and cargo load, unlike fixed-frequency units which only have two states: "full load" and "shutdown". For example, during frequent goods in and out during the day, when the warehouse temperature rises rapidly, the unit automatically increases the power to 80%-100% to quickly pull back to the set temperature; when there is no access demand and the goods are stable late at night, the power automatically drops to 20%-30%, only maintaining basic cooling to avoid invalid energy consumption.
For Mr. Zhang’s 150㎡ cold storage, the power of the inverter unit is about 15kW at peak load in summer, while the traditional fixed-frequency unit requires 22kW, saving 7 kWh per hour; at low valley load at night, the power of the inverter unit is only 3kW, which is 1/5 of that of the fixed-frequency unit. According to actual tests, the comprehensive coefficient of performance (COP) of the inverter unit can reach more than 4.5, 35% higher than that of the fixed-frequency unit. Even in low-temperature environments in winter, the energy-saving effect can be maintained at more than 25%.
What’s more noteworthy is that intelligent power adjustment can also reduce the number of starts and stops of the unit. Frequent starts and stops of traditional fixed-frequency units not only consume electricity but also accelerate compressor wear. In contrast, the inverter unit adjusts speed smoothly, with a starting current only 1/3 of that of the fixed-frequency unit, which not only protects the equipment but also reduces maintenance costs. For cold chain merchants who need 24-hour operation, the intelligent power adjustment technology of inverter cold storage units is not just a simple "electricity saving", but a "cost optimization tool" for long-term operations.
