Efficiency Decline Causes Refrigerating Capacity Attenuation
  2026-01-17 |  View:

As the "power core" of the cold storage refrigeration system, the operating efficiency and airtightness of the compressor directly determine the volumetric efficiency and refrigerating capacity. After long-term high-load operation, core components such as cylinder liners and piston rings are prone to wear, leading to decreased airtightness. Though seemingly a normal equipment aging phenomenon, this will significantly reduce the working efficiency of the compressor, cause a decrease in refrigerating capacity, and affect the overall operational stability of the cold storage.

Component wear and reduced airtightness will directly damage the compressor's refrigeration cycle. After the cylinder liners and piston rings are worn, gas in the cylinder is prone to leakage, resulting in lower volumetric efficiency and insufficient actual refrigerant discharge; the decline in airtightness will also intensify energy loss, forcing the compressor to consume more electrical energy to maintain basic operation, forming a vicious cycle of "low efficiency and high energy consumption".

Reduced compressor efficiency triggers chain hazards. Decreased refrigerating capacity leads to slow cooling and increased temperature fluctuations in the cold storage, threatening cargo storage safety; long-term inefficient operation will further exacerbate component wear, shorten the compressor's service life, and increase the probability of fault shutdown. The later maintenance and replacement costs are much higher than the investment in early preventive maintenance.

Three measures should be taken to slow down efficiency decline: regularly inspect the condition of cylinder liners and piston rings, and replace worn components in a timely manner; replace lubricating oil in accordance with specifications to reduce component friction loss; control the operating load to avoid long-term overloading of the compressor, extend component service life, and maintain airtightness and gas transmission efficiency.

Compressor maintenance is the core of efficient cold storage operation. Conducting good preventive maintenance in the early stage and promptly addressing component wear issues, although requiring a small investment, can stabilize volumetric efficiency and refrigerating capacity, avoid efficiency attenuation and soaring energy consumption, and lay a solid foundation for the long-term stable operation of the refrigeration system age refrigeration system.
