Beware of Evaporator Contamination! Oil and Air Accumulation Slows Refrigeration Efficiency
  2026-01-15 |  View:

As the core heat exchange component of the cold storage refrigeration system, the cleanliness of the evaporator directly determines heat transfer efficiency and cooling effect. Excessive accumulation of refrigerating oil or air in the evaporator may seem like a minor maintenance oversight, but in fact, it will significantly reduce heat transfer performance, leading to slow temperature drop in the cold storage, thereby increasing unit load and energy consumption, and affecting cargo storage safety.

Accumulation of refrigerating oil and air will damage the heat transfer mechanism. Excess refrigerating oil adheres to the heat exchange surface of the evaporator, forming a heat-insulating oil film that hinders heat exchange between the refrigerant and the air in the cold storage; air mixing will cause air blockage, occupy heat exchange space, and reduce refrigerant heat absorption efficiency. These two factors together lead to a sharp drop in heat transfer efficiency.

Reduced refrigeration efficiency triggers chain problems. Failure to quickly lower the cold storage temperature to the set range will extend the cargo cooling cycle and increase the risk of deterioration; to make up for the efficiency gap, the unit must operate at high load for a long time, which not only increases energy consumption but also accelerates the wear of core components such as compressors and raises the probability of fault shutdown.

To avoid hidden dangers, daily maintenance must be well performed: regularly inspect the evaporator, promptly remove accumulated refrigerating oil and air inside to ensure the heat exchange surface is clean; optimize the oil return system to reduce refrigerating oil entering the evaporator with the refrigerant; standardize operations when charging refrigerant to prevent air from mixing into the system.

Evaporator maintenance is key to the efficient operation of cold storage. Making regular cleaning and system optimization in the early stage, although requiring a small investment, can maintain stable heat transfer efficiency, avoid problems such as slow cooling and soaring energy consumption, and build a solid efficiency defense line for the cold stor
